THE CATALOG
The saved catalog was imported on 2026-09-07. It includes episodes whose broadcast timestamps precede the snapshot, including episodes that may no longer appear on streaming services. Future episodes are retained in the source snapshot but excluded from the published catalog. Specials, when supplied separately by the source, are labeled separately.
The latest aired season 18 entries were checked against FX’s episode listing through S18 E04. FX’s streaming availability dates can be the day after the original broadcast date. Original broadcast dates use TVmaze. Historical numbering follows that source, including its numbered Christmas episode.
OPENING-CARD COVERAGE
176 episodes have transcriptions checked against supplied episode frames, 0 use linked recaps, and 5 have no setting cards in the reviewed opening of the supplied edition. All cataloged openings have now been reviewed.
Replacement season 9 copies were rechecked on September 7. Nine episodes now have frame-verified time, weekday, and Philadelphia location cards, including “Flowers for Charlie.” “The Gang Makes Lethal Weapon 6” was checked again and uses a film-parody opening without setting cards. This resolves the season’s earlier blank-screen and recap-only records.
WHAT “RESEARCHED” MEANS
1957 distinct tags currently connect 181 episodes. Each occurrence includes a short explanation and a link to its supporting source. 181 dossiers also include sourced case notes covering the setup, outcome, or a recurring connection. These lists are a starting point, not an exhaustive inventory of every prop or character appearance. No appearances are inferred merely from the show’s regular cast.
Frame-verified transcriptions preserve the visible wording and screen order, with edition-specific timestamps and evidence fingerprints retained in the content files. OCR produces drafts only; each published transcription is reviewed visually. Recap-sourced entries are labeled separately and do not claim exact on-screen typography. Holiday wording, military time, and intentionally unspecified places remain intact. No weekday is inferred from a date, and Philadelphia is never filled in by default. An unconfirmed location stays “Not yet researched”; a confirmed missing card is a separate state.
Weekday and time searches use the in-story opening card, never the broadcast schedule. Missing details do not match specific day or time filters. An overnight range such as 10 PM to 2 AM includes both sides of midnight.

Episode ratings are an IMDb dataset snapshot from 2026-09-07. Scores link to the individual IMDb episode; vote counts and the snapshot date appear in each rating’s accessible label and hover text. Scores can change after the snapshot.
IMDb data is subject to IMDb’s separate usage terms and is excluded from this project’s CC BY-SA text license. The free dataset’s permission covers limited personal, non-commercial use; this acknowledgement does not grant permission to republish a public ratings database. SOURCES & ATTRIBUTION
Episode titles, numbering, air dates, summaries, and image links are supplied by TVmaze, whose API data is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0. Text has been normalized from HTML and filtered to aired episodes.
Research also draws on linked pages from the Always Sunny Wiki, TheTwoCents, TV Tropes, The Gang hits the web, The Review Geek, and DryedMangoez. Occurrence notes are concise paraphrases, not full recaps. Attribution and source URLs travel with each record. The adapted text dataset in this project is distributed under CC BY-SA 4.0.
Episode stills use TVmaze’s image CDN or selected captures from visually inspected copies. Local captures and character portraits retain their episode, edition, timestamp, and evidence fingerprint in the project data. Image rights remain with their respective owners; the data license does not establish ownership of the underlying show imagery. Missing photographs receive a designed file-card fallback.
AN UNOFFICIAL FAN PROJECT
The Gang Gets Indexed is not affiliated with FX, FXX, Hulu, or the show’s creators. Episode pages and tags contain spoilers. This site is a reference archive, with no video streams or transcripts.
KEEPING THE FILES UP TO DATE
Content is maintained in the project’s data files. Catalog imports and curated research are stored separately, so refreshing the episode list preserves the opening cards, tag notes, and sources. The project README explains how to add evidence and validate it before rebuilding.
